Remember that producer Evil Needle, with his track Lo-Fi Dreams? This time hes back with Cirrostratus, an LP of smooth beats, available for free here. There isnt anything too progressive here, but it is a very good beat CD you can cotch to. You can preview the whole thing below via his bandcamp.
A long while back I came across a track by the name of "Dark Sunrise", off of an album by the same name. Been playing it again recently, so decided you (yes, you) should start playing it too. The group beind the track is "Rikki Ililonga & Musi-O-Tunya", a Zambian group who clearly decided on a catchy name. You can download the track for free here, and you can buy/preview the rest of the album here. I havent myself listened to the album yet to tell you if its any good, but I will get round to it as I love the title track.

This mixtape is sick. Brainfreeze is a recording of a live rehearsal session of these two pioneering DJs, for a collaboration show they were doing in 1999. A mix of rare soul 45s, hip-hop classics, breakbeats and the kind of soundscape tracks Shadow is infamous for sampling, this is really not to be missed. Turntablism at its finest, this is an incredible display of live creativity from the pair. It is very, very unfortunate though, that there is no tracklist for this mixtape.

When it comes to psych rock, I like a lot of what I hear, but have never really explored the genre as a whole. Anyway, I found Surrealistic Pillow, a Jefferson Airplane album, the other day after watching Fear and Loathing (again). Even if you dont recognise the name, you've probably heard the classic "Somebody To Love" before. I've only skimmed through the album once, but it is very good, so I shall review it as and when.

Here is Burial - Street Halo, Burials new 3-track EP. I was blown away by Untrue, Burials second LP, it was one of those albums that I could not get enough of when I got it. And I firmly believe it remains a stone cold classic. However, since then I have been quite bored by his efforts as he has never really progressed his sound. I have not yet listened to this EP, and I really hope that this time he has made his style more progressive, because this could be something special. It is out now, and if youre feeling it, support the sound by buying it.
Don't know too much about this producer, but I heard this Evil Needle joint the other day and it is unbelievably good. Will definitely keep an eye out for anything new coming from this bre. Check out his Soundcloud if you're feeling this one.
